Our organic avocado orchard has roughly 400 Hass Avocado trees plus there are various fruit trees spread throughout the property. We harvest about 18,000-20,000 pounds of avocados throughout the year, and use them in our restaurant to make our famous guacamole. When the harvest is more than the restaurant can use, we sell the avocados to a wholesaler. The majority of the trees are around 12-14 years old, but there are several younger trees spread throughout the orchard.
In December 2018 we completed construction on a 1000 square foot, fully equipped yoga studio and have now begun hosting wellness retreats. The studio is by far the largest in the Antigua area and the only retreat center with a fully functioning hotel and restaurant. The Antigua area is an increasingly popular destination for wellness tourism, especially due to its close proximity to Guatemala City and La Aurora International Airport (roughly a 1 hour drive).
Earth Lodge's restaurant can seat up to 90 people for retreats or special events, and the kitchen is equipped with industrial stoves, fridges and ovens plus a fully trained local staff. We have hosted several weddings, staff parties, and large retreats and meetings. We hire local workers from the neighboring village of El Hato, which has facilitated a friendly relationship with the villagers.
The owner’s residence is a beautiful and private 3-bedroom house perfect for a family or couple.
